Fueled by an outlaw spirit, Freak Out!—the DJ duo comprised of Gumar aka Break Mode and Palm Pilot—compels dance floors to do exactly that. Their sets stitch together rock & roll attitude with house, electro, EBM, disco, and other leftfield sounds, creating a style that feels equally informed by the past, future, and some loosely parallel timeline in between.

Based in Portland, Freak Out! are regular fixtures in their hometown while steadily expanding their reach beyond the Pacific Northwest. Most recently they brought their energy to Sameheads in Berlin, and have shared the booth with kindred spirits including Niklas Wandt, Xica Soul, Barbara Boeing, and Sound Metaphors. Their mixes have also been featured by respected platforms such as Sound Metaphors, Dream Chimney, and Test Pressing.

In 2026, the duo released their debut EP, Punkers, a four-track journey through rave nostalgia, electro oddities, and cosmic dancefloor escapism, featuring a remix from legendary Los Angeles outfit DX3. The release has already found support from tastemakers across the underground, with closing track "The Answer" recently featured by Bradley Zero on his NTS Radio show.

The duo also hold a monthly residency on Noods Radio in Bristol, England, where they explore the outer reaches of the dance floor through adventurous, genre-blurring selections.

Whether behind the decks, on the airwaves, or in the studio, Freak Out! continues to champion a sound for the freaks!
